CAC AmeriCorps Members receive modest benefits to allow them to serve on a full-time basis with our community partners.  Benefits include:

For AmeriCorps State (Environmental)

  • A modest Living allowance of up to $12,530 distributed over 47 weeks or $533.19 every two weeks (before taxes).
  • Health insurance premium and deductible paid by program for members who are not already covered independently or by a parent.  Our program is Affordable Care Act Compliant.
  • Worker’s Compensation
  • Education Award of $5,815 (2017-2018) after completion of 1,700 hour service term (11 months).
  • On-site and professional development training.
  • Access to an engaged base of Alums in the region.
  • Assistance with finding housing

For AmeriCorps VISTA

  • A modest living allowance of up to $11,880 distributed bi-weekly over the course of a year or $455.70 (before taxes).
  • AmeriCorps VISTA Health Care Allowance to reimburse members for out-of-pocket expenses related to their health insurance.
  • Education Award of $5,815 (2017-2018) after completion of service term (1 year) or a $1,500 end-of-service stipend.
  • Relocation & Close-of-Service travel allowance up to $1,000 if moving more than 50 miles from your home to serve.
  • One (1) year of non-competitive eligibility in federal hiring upon completion.
  • On-site and professional development training.
  • Access to an engaged base of Alums in the region.
  • Assistance with finding housing.

For AmeriCorps VISTA Leader

  • Same benefits as ‘AmeriCorps VISTA’ with a living allowance of up to $14,280 over the course of a year or $544.46 (before taxes) bi-weekly.
  • Dedicated budget for training with opportunities to secure certification in grant writing, non-profit management, project management or other options offered by the University of Tennessee, the Alliance for Better Nonprofits  and other partners.
