About Keep Knoxville Beautiful:
  • Founded in 1978 to help “clean up” prior to the 1982 World’s Fair, KKB is a local nonprofit with a mission to promote a cleaner, greener, and more beautiful community. We pursue this by:
    Educating students and the public about waste prevention
  • Facilitating and supporting litter pickups that make our roads and local waterways cleaner
  • Creating and protecting murals and hosting beautification mobs to make Knoxville a more beautiful and interesting place to live and visit
Position Summary:
  • Educating area youth via school cleanups and the “Talking Tree” and other environmental education programs
  • Educating Knox County’s adult population on litter prevention and waste reduction
  • Organizing litter cleanups with various members of the community
  • Organizing graffiti removals
  • Recruiting volunteers for KKB
  • Maintaining all event records using Keep America Beautiful’s tracking system and Google Sheets
  • Maintaining an active social media presence
  • Assisting Executive Director, Program Manager, and Board Committees
  • Assisting in planning special events including: Trash Runs, The Orchid Awards, Beautification Mobs, America Recycles Day, and fundraising events (i.e. pint nights)
  • Developing monthly e-newsletter using MailChimp
  • Implement and manage KKB WasteWise program
  • Creating and developing new community partnerships
  • Tabling at volunteer fairs, expos, and community events to educate the public
  • Answering community questions about litter and recycling
Site Preferences/Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Ability to work well with or without supervision while maintaining project deadlines
  • Ability to speak in public and relay information to individuals or groups
  • Ability to remain courteous and amicable while engaging with members of the public
  • Valid Driver’s License with good driving record
Member Benefits Include:
  • A modest living allowance of $18,000*, or, $765.95 bi-weekly (pre-tax), paid over 47 weeks. *Pending Grant Funding
