About Beardsley Farm:
CAC Beardsley Community Farm is an urban educational farm that promotes food security and sustainable agriculture. Beardsley’s goal is to increase food security in Knoxville through produce donations, accessible education, and land and resources for gardening. Beardsley Farm grows over 10,000 pounds of produce on about four-acres of productive land with the help of over 2,000 annual volunteers.
Position Summary:
- Support the Farm Manager through maintenance of vegetable crops and fruit production (planting, weeding, harvesting, irrigation, crop-rotation, maintaining soil health, disease/pest management)
- Lead daily volunteers in farm tasks
- Assist the Education Manager with on-site educational programming including field trips, summer camp, the high school apprenticeship program, and garden and food workshop on an as-needed basis
- Help with food distribution programs
- Work and connect with community partners
- Help with care of community gardens throughout Knox County
- Tend to the flock of hens
- Keep an attractive landscape at the farm
- Plan and promote community and fundraising events
- Foster a safe and enjoyable place for diverse community members at the farm

Site Preferences/Qualifications:
- Ability to work collaboratively or independently
- Ability to lead and motivate groups of volunteers with projects such as weeding, planting, invasive removal, and building
- Must enjoy and be capable of working outdoors in all weather conditions (sun, rain, heat, cold)
- Capable of working with people from diverse backgrounds
- Solid organization and leadership skills
- Commitment to honesty, excellence, and professionalism
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with many weekly scheduled events such as community work days, field trips, fundraisers, and workshops
- Enthusiasm for learning and engaging with new communities
- Ability to adapt in an ever-changing work environment
- Interest in environmental education
- Ability to lift 50 pounds, team lift 100 pounds
