THIS SITE HAS BEEN FILLED FOR THE 2017-2018 RECRUITMENT CYCLE.
Established as a part of the University of Tennessee’s Facilities Services Department in 2003, UT Recycling is designed for effective waste diversion operations and maximum campus participation. Diligent efforts are made to provide well-organized collection services, sustainable choices for materials management, and educational programs that are responsive to the needs of the students, faculty, staff members, and the surrounding areas. UT Recycling works with departments, organizations, and individuals to educate the community on the importance of waste reduction, and to encourage participation in environmental stewardship and UT Zero Waste initiatives.
UT Recycling’s goal is to convert the University of Tennessee into a Zero Waste institution, by diverting 90% (or more) of all waste generated from the landfill through reduction, reuse, recycling and composting practices. The Recycling team provides recycling collection services at all campus buildings, provides compost collection services at most campus dining facilities, promotes simple living and the Zero Waste lifestyle, engages UT community through volunteer opportunities & educational programs, contribute to the development of sustainable practices and planning. One of the most important and impressive tasks of the Recycling office is Game Day Recycling- with the goal to divert the majority of waste from UT Vols football games and tailgating areas.
