The Office of Sustainability works to coordinate, manage, advise and report on sustainable initiatives at UT, through research, data collection and collaborations with a variety of on-campus and community stakeholders. Over the years, UT has made great progress at reducing the environmental impact of campus operations. In fact, the University has been widely recognized as a leader in resource conservation and environmental stewardship. The Office of Sustainability supports environmental sustainability initiatives that reduce air, water, and land pollution from campus operations, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and the use of nonrenewable resources, promote recycling and conservation practices among the UT community, protect and enhance the beauty of campus grounds and facilities, and demonstrate the university’s commitment to environmental stewardship.
There are two AmeriCorps positions available at this office. The Data Analysis Coordinator works on the collection and analysis of data that will help the campus better understand its impact on the environment, what programs are working well, and what areas need more focus. The Sustainability Outreach Coordinator engages and educates the UT community on sustainability news and initiatives through various media as well as fosters the development of sustainable leaders and initiatives on campus.
