Accepted an offer to serve with us? Congratulations!
You have one more important step to complete in order to verify your eligibility to serve with CAC AmeriCorps.
State/National members serving through CAC AmeriCorps’ Environmental program will be subject to a check of the national sex offender public website (NSOPW), state checks, and an FBI fingerprint check through third party vendors Truescreen and Fieldprint before beginning service. These checks are the final step, following your formal offer, in determining suitability to serve in CAC AmeriCorps and must be completed no later than two weeks before the member’s proposed start date. This is to assure adequate time for your check to clear and be adjudicated by staff, as needed.
To complete this process, follow these three steps:
Step 2) You will be registered with the appropriate checks in the Truescreen system. You will receive email instructions from truescreen.com on how to complete these checks.
VISTA members will simply have to complete a fingerprint background check upon arrival at their respective orientation. The VISTA Leader assigned to these members will provide direct guidance on this process.
Regardless of program, a criminal history involving a murder conviction and/or a crime that requires the individual to register as a sex offender will automatically disqualify them from serving through CAC AmeriCorps. In addition, failure to disclose any other criminal conviction during the application process through my.americorps.gov may also result in a disqualification. Please notify Support Services Specialist, Nicole Stephens, if you have questions about what to report. All offers are contingent on successfully completing and passing this process.
