About East Tennessee Clean Fuels Coalition:

East Tennessee Clean Fuels is a nonprofit organization and a designated Coalition with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Clean Cities and Communities Partnership, working to build and strengthen connections to facilitate cleaner transportation partnerships and projects that yield measurable, accessible, and equitable results. Founded in 2002 by Jonathan Overly, ETCleanFuels exists to increase the use of cleaner American fuels, vehicles, and energy-saving transportation technologies to reduce emissions harmful to people and the planet, curb dependence on petroleum, and support Tennessee’s economy. More specifically, we work to facilitate a coalition of stakeholders across the region and implement alternative fuel projects in East Tennessee and beyond.

Position Summary:
  • Assist staff with coalition-led event coordination, planning, and execution
  • Engage with new and existing stakeholders on various project needs
  • Provide support for community outreach events (may include some weekend participation and potential local/in-state travel for events)
  • Assist with collecting and reporting annual alternative fuels data from state-wide fleets
  • Assist with various one-off tasks for projects led by coalition staff and providing updates/summaries of work to project leads
  • Support coalition-led group meetings (Drive Electric Tennessee Chapter leaders, UT-Knoxville Electric Vehicle Owners Working Group, etc.)
  • Support grant proposal development, both coalition- and external partner-led
  • Participate in weekly coalition meetings and occasional project meetings as needed
  • Opportunity to assist with fundraising activities for the coalition, including seeking event sponsorships

Site Preferences/Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Strong computer skills, including familiarity with both the Microsoft Office and Google Suite programs
  • Willingness to learn about alternative fuels and vehicles
  • Willing to engage with community members, stakeholders, and partners in a positive and professional manner
  • Valid driver’s license (preferred, not required)
