About CAC Beardsley Community Farm:

CAC Beardsley Community Farm promotes food security and sustainable agriculture. Since 1998, Beardsley Farm has worked to increase access to fresh produce in Knoxville through produce donations, educational programs, and community gardening. Beardsley Farm donates over 40,000 pounds of produce annually with the help of over 1,200 volunteers. Beardsley Farm’s education programs engage youth and adults both at the farm and off-site with a focus on growing and cooking fresh produce. The farm also manages over 30 community gardens throughout the city, providing seeds and plants to all program participants.

Position Summary:
  • Support the maintenance of Beardsley Farm’s community gardens and its program participants
  • Support the farm’s on-site growing and volunteer management activities; organize, deliver, and recruit/train volunteers for produce distribution
  • Maintain garden which includes but is not limited to mowing, weeding, planting, watering, and harvesting
  • Aid in social media content
  • Aid in data collection for produce harvest and volunteer participants
  • Coordinate and complete produce deliveries and maintain partnerships with produce donation sites
  • Help care for flock of hens and farm cat
  • Aid in educational programming
  • Aid in surveying clients to improve Beardsley programs

Site Preferences/Qualifications:
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Basic knowledge of Excel, Windows programs and Google Suite
  • A valid driver’s license and ability to drive a pickup truck
